River City Brass Band welcomes local students to the stage this month. For "Christmas Brasstacular," conductor James Gourlay performs holiday favorites with choirs from local schools. "Ananse and the Glue Man" at the Kelly-Strayhorn Theater, 5941 Penn Ave., East Liberty. The production is the result of a partnership between The Bill Nunn Theatre Outreach Project and KST's resident youth theater company, the Alumni Theater Company (ATC). Director Bill Nunn says, "I consider it a sacred honor to carry on the telling of this simple African folk tale about right and wrong." He adds that the tale of Br'er Rabbit and the Tar Baby found in the Uncle Remus stories is derived from the oral history of Ananse tales.
