Author J.K. Rowling and the cast of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2" bring on the glam fo the July 7 world premiere of the last film in the series. The most successful film franchise ever got it's first big sendoff in London's Trafalgar Square, where thousands gathered for the event.
Emma Watson sparkled in a silver-gray gown that the Daily Mail of London said was "a floor length tiered Oscar De La Renta ruffled gown, a dress that made her look like a fairy-tale princess."
The 21-year-old actress best known as Harry Potter buddy Hermione Granger has recently been in Pittsburgh filming "Perks of Being a Wallflower."
Her co-stars on the red carpet included Daniel Radcliffe in rumpled three-piece suit and Rupert Grint in a croc-textured black jacket, both with fly-away hair. For Mr. Radcliffe, it might have been a relief to let his hair down -- it's kept perfectly slick for his Broadway role as the lead in "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying." The musical is dark this week while its lead promotes the franchise finale, which opens at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, July 15.
Ms. Rowling and members of the cast spoke from a central stage in London's Trafalgar Square, which was crowded with fans who had gathered from all over the world.
"Each and every person, not just here in this square but around the world who have watched these films for the last 10 years, they will always carry the films with them for the rest of their lives," Mr. Radcliffe said.
The Associated Press also reported that Ms. Rowling wiped away tears as she thanked the actors for "the amazing things they did for my favorite characters."
