Pittsburgh connections to the Oscars: Nick Nolte is nominated for "Warrior," filmed in Pittsburgh in 2009; Rooney Mara, with family ties to the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Giants, is up for best actress for "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo"; and Aliquippa native Joe Letteri is nominated for visual effects for "Rise of the Planet of the Apes."
