Defeat is a bitter pill to swallow -- especially at the Super Bowl.
Perhaps it was made a bit easier for Patriots' quarterback Tom Brady, whose wife Gisele Bndchen was on hand to comfort him in Indianapolis on Sunday night, after losing 21-17 to Eli Manning and the New York Giants in a suspenseful fourth quarter, People reports.
But playing the supportive footballer's wife means more than just being a shoulder to cry on. The supermodel was caught on camera defending her husband after being heckled by fans.
"My husband can not [expletive] throw the ball and catch the ball at the same time," she said, taking a dig at Brady's receivers. "I can't believe they dropped the ball so many times."
Call it a finger malfunction?
Madonna was supposed to be the center of attention during the Super Bowl halftime show Sunday, but the Queen of Pop was upstaged by her collaborator M.I.A., who flipped off the camera at one point during the performance, prompting swift apologies from the NFL and NBC.
"The obscene gesture in the performance was completely inappropriate, very disappointing and we apologize to our fans," said Brian McCarthy, spokesman for the NFL, according to the Associated Press.
The action eluded the NBC censors by less than a second, as viewers at home clearly saw M.I.A.'s middle finger raised, followed by a brief blurring of part of the stage.
"Our system was late to obscure the inappropriate gesture and we apologize to our viewers," NBC spokesman Christopher McCloskey told the AP.
McCarthy said the NFL, which produced the halftime show, was blindsided by the gesture and that M.I.A. had not indicated during rehearsals that she would be doing anything untoward.
There were no reports of fines for either organization as of Monday morning, unlike when CBS was hit with a $550,000 fine by the Federal Communications Commission after Janet Jackson's notorious nipple-exposing "wardrobe malfunction" in 2004. The fine was later thrown out.
Demi Moore has not been spotted since a health crisis in January sent her to the hospital, but People has confirmed that the actress is in treatment.
According to a source close to the situation, the actress is in a facility and not at home in Los Angeles, as some have speculated.
On Saturday, E! News reported that Moore, 49, checked into Cirque Lodge in Utah the week after her Jan. 23 hospitalization.
"She's on total lockdown and only talking to a small group of people," a source tells E!, adding that the actress is being treated for addiction and an eating disorder.
