How's this for an all-star lineup of producers: Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire and Tom Hardy are teaming for an as-yet untitled animal-trafficking drama.
Hardy -- DiCaprio's "Inception" co-star and Bane in "The Dark Knight Rises"-- is back on screens this week in "Lawless." The Hollywood Reporter writes that the film was his idea, inspired by friends who are former Special Forces operatives and now anti-poaching fighters.
They hope to make a movie that weaves stories in the vein of Steven Soderbergh's "Traffic," according to THR, which said it was unclear if the producers would act in the movie.
DiCaprio is an animal-rights activist who last year became the spokesman for the International Fund for Animal Welfare's campaign to protect elephants. DiCaprio and Maguire are longtime pals and co-stars in Baz Luhrmann's "The Great Gatsby," due next summer.
Katie Couric has announced a lineup including Barbra Streisand as guests for her new, nationally syndicated talk show, which debuts Sept. 10 with Jessica Simpson and looks ahead to weeks of celebrating women who are reinventing themselves.
After 15 years co-anchoring NBC's "Today," she spent five years at CBS, mostly as anchor of the "CBS Evening News." Couric told The Huffington Post that felt "constrained" at CBS and therefore "liberated" when she left.
Celebrity guests on the new show, airing locally at 3 p.m. weekdays on WTAE, will include Sheryl Crow, who composed the theme song, Chelsea Handler, Heidi Klum, Jennifer Lopez, Demi Lovato, Susan Sarandon, Sofia Vergara and "50 Shades of Grey" author E L James. Other guests include Aimee Copeland, the 24-year-old recovering from an ordeal caused by flesh-eating bacteria.
Rihanna sure knows how to keep a high profile.
An article published in OK! Magazine via Hollywood Life claims that the singer and Robert Pattinson have been exchanging "sexy, funny texts." Ri-Ri reportedly began the texting after news broke that Kristen Stewart had cheated on her longtime boyfriend.
It wasn't that long ago that Rihanna, 24, told Oprah Winfrey that she is single but still loves Chris Brown, whom she broke up with in 2009 after he assaulted her. Rumors flared recently when she was spotted racing go-karts in Burbank, Calif., with Rob Kardashian, according to Yahoo! News.
Also in RPatz news, Us Weekly says the actor is selling his Los Feliz home in Los Angeles that he had shared with "Twilight" co-star Stewart for nearly a year. The couple split after Stewart was linked to her "Snow White and the Huntsman" director, Rupert Sanders.
The John Updike Society has bought the author's childhood home in Shillington, about 50 miles northwest of Philadelphia, and plans to restore it and turn it into a museum.
The Pulitzer Prize-winning Updike, who died in 2009 at age 76, lived at the house until he was 13. The Associated Press said the society spent $180,000 for the 1900 house, and hopes it can be re-created to show how it would have looked in Updike's youth.
Investigators have determined that a fire at filmmaker Tyler Perry's Atlanta studios Monday was caused by careless smoking and no criminal charges were pending, the AP reported.
The second blaze at the filming complex in recent months broke out on the roof of a building undergoing repairs. Firefighters had things under control quickly, and the structural integrity of the building was not compromised.
On May 1, more than 100 firefighters battled a blaze that ripped through a simulated streetscape at Perry's studios. The damage was such that the cause of that fire could not be determined.
