For the first time in two decades, a woman has been tapped to moderate a presidential debate.
CNN's Candy Crowley will moderate one of three October debates between President Barack Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney, the Commission on Presidential Debates announced Monday. Jim Lehrer of PBS and Bob Schieffer of CBS News will moderate the other two debates, The Associated Press reports.
Lehrer will question the candidates during the first debate on Oct. 3 at the University of Denver, focused on domestic topics.
Crowley's Oct. 16 debate at Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y., will use a town hall format, allowing undecided voters selected by the Gallup Organization to directly question the candidates. Foreign and domestic policy questions will be fair game.
Another female journalist, Martha Raddatz of ABC News, will moderate an Oct. 11 debate at Centre College in Danville, Ky., between Vice President Joe Biden and Republican Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin.
The debate season will draw to a close on Oct. 22 with a foreign policy-focused debate moderated by Schieffer at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Fla., a crucial swing state.
All the debates are scheduled for 9 p.m. The commission said it will also launch an Internet-based initiative to educate voters before the debates about the issues that are likely to come up.
Jennifer Aniston is finally ready to wed again.
Her representative, Stephen Huvane, confirmed Sunday night that the actress is engaged to her boyfriend of more than a year, Justin Theroux, The Associated Press reports.
"Justin Theroux had an amazing birthday on Friday, receiving an extraordinary gift when his girlfriend, Jennifer Aniston, accepted his proposal of marriage," said Theroux's rep in a statement to People, which first reported the engagement.
Theroux, 41, and Aniston, 43, have known each other for years but started dating more than a year ago after working on the comedy "Wanderlust."
Aniston was previously married to Brad Pitt. That five-year union ended in 2005. While Pitt moved on to a long-term relationship with Angelina Jolie, Aniston had high-profile relationships with John Mayer and Vince Vaughn.
This will be Theroux's first marriage. It's not clear if a wedding date for the couple had been set. Aniston's engagement comes four months after Pitt and Jolie announced their engagement.
VH1 has canceled upcoming reality series "Ev and Ocho" following the arrest and release by the Miami Dolphins of Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
"Due to the unfortunate events over the weekend and the seriousness of the allegations, VH1 is pulling the series 'Ev and Ocho' from its schedule and has no current plans of airing it," the network said in a statement.
The unscripted series was scheduled to premiere Sept. 3 and follow Johnson and his new wife, Evelyn Lozada. Eleven episodes of "Ev and Ocho," which documented the couple's engagement and wedding, were taped this year, according to The New York Times, including a two-part season finale.
Johnson was arrested Saturday on domestic violence charges after he allegedly head-butted the "Basketball Wives" star during an argument at their Florida residence. Lozada was treated for a "pretty good sized" laceration at a nearby hospital, Davie, Fla., police Cpt. Dale Engle told NFL.com.
A day later, the wide receiver was cut from the NFL's Miami Dolphins, shutting him out of Showtime's upcoming docuseries "Hard Knocks: Training Camp With the Miami Dolphins."
nAfter sustaining an injury on the set of "The Good Wife" last month, Kristin Chenoweth is leaving her recurring role on the hit CBS series as she continues to recover.
"It is with deep regret to inform everyone that due to my injuries, I am unable to return to 'The Good Wife' at this time," Chenoweth tells People in a statement Monday. The actress will, however, appear on the season 4 premiere on Sept. 30 (9 p.m.).
Chenoweth, 44, was injured by a piece of falling lighting equipment while on the Brooklyn set of the show on July 11. When reached, CBS had no comment.
She was hospitalized overnight as a result of her injuries, and she has periodically shared health updates via Twitter.
After getting a taste of the Kennedy lifestyle this summer, Taylor Swift apparently feels she could get used to it.
The Nashville-based singer, 22, who is dating Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s son Conor, 18, has bought a house in Hyannis Port, Mass., across the street from Conor's grandmother Ethel, according to several reports.
A Realtor in Hyannis, Mass., confirmed the purchase to People, saying Swift bought the property last week.
The Realtor said the property -- said to be a 13-room home overlooking Nantucket Sound with seven bedrooms and five bathrooms -- was originally listed for $14 million but was "way overpriced." Local reports say Swift scooped it up for $4.9 million.
Swift, who is said to be "swept off her feet" by Conor, has many admirers in the Kennedy clan, with Ethel's daughter Rory calling her "a great friend of all of ours."
The paparazzi are suffering a media hangover.
Zach Galifianakis, 42, was supposed to marry fiancee Quinn Lundberg last weekend in Canada -- based on their invite and multiple reports of a rehearsal dinner at the Tea House in Vancouver's Stanley Park last Thursday, People reports.
But after Thursday, there was nothing but media silence.
"The couple pulled a three-card Monte and kept us guessing on where the event would actually take place," reports the local gossip site Vancitybuzz.com. "Having paparazzi posted at all the Greek Orthodox churches in the Vancouver area, frustration grew as Zach and Quinn were no shows."
In the end, the site says, the intensely private funnyman did tie the knot in a private ceremony "somewhere in the Furry Creek/Squamish area," a resort location with golf course and country club north of Vancouver.
But there was no independent confirmation from the star of "The Campaign" and "The Hangover," and the Vancitybuzz account cites vague "reports" and some tweets from possible guests -- including Sarah Silverman and Patton Oswald -- that may or may not have referred to a wedding celebration.
Galifianakis has dated Lundberg for several years, according to a 2011 cover story in Rolling Stone. "Quinn is the coolest," he told the magazine of his girlfriend, who runs a nonprofit that helps Third World charities. "The coolest."
