People: Ben Affleck, Taylor Swift, Kim Kardashian, Brent Musberger

It's no guarantee that they'll hear their names as Oscar nominees Thursday morning, but Ben Affleck, Kathryn Bigelow, Tom Hooper, Ang Lee and Steven Spielberg have been nominated for the DGA Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film for 2012.
They are in contention for, respectively, "Argo," "Zero Dark Thirty," "Les Miserables," "Life of Pi" and "Lincoln." The winner will be named at the 65th Annual DGA (Directors Guild of America) Awards Dinner Feb. 2 in Hollywood.
Affleck is a first-time DGA nominee while this is Spielberg's 11th. A couple of notable absences: Quentin Tarantino for "Django Unchained" and David O. Russell for "Silver Linings Playbook."
Since the DGA Awards began in 1948, there have been only six times that the feature film winner has not won the corresponding Academy Award. One of the notable exceptions occurred when onetime Pittsburgher Rob Marshall won the DGA honor for "Chicago" and an absent Roman Polanski received the Academy Award for directing "The Pianist."

It's official: Taylor Swift and One Direction's Harry Styles have headed to splitsville.
After visiting the British Virgin Islands together following a New Year's Eve smooch, Swift left by herself Jan. 4. Swift, 23, and Styles, 18, debuted as a couple during a taping of "The X Factor" in November, and were seemingly inseparable after that. Both Swift and Styles kick off world tours soon.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are getting ready to play house in a big way. The expectant parents have purchased a Bel Air, Calif., mansion for $11 million, People has confirmed after the real estate deal was first reported by TMZ. The Italian-style villa will include a gym, movie theater, hair and makeup salon, bowling alley, basketball court and indoor and outdoor pools.

Brent Musburger realizes he got carried away with his reaction to Katherine Webb cheering on boyfriend AJ McCarron Monday night, E! News reports.
The ESPN host devoted an inordinate amount of screen time to Miss Alabama USA, shooting her to Twitter stardom almost instantaneously. The network released a statement Tuesday apologizing for Musburger's excessive commentary during the Alabama game.
"We always try to capture interesting story lines and the relationship between an Auburn grad who is Miss Alabama and the current Alabama quarterback certainly met that test," said the statement. "However, we apologize that the commentary in this instance went too far and Brent understands that."
Although Webb remained mum on Twitter about her influx of 100,000+ new followers, Donald Trump (who owns the Miss Universe organization) is ready to capitalize on her insta-fame. He tweeted Tuesday: "We are going to ask Katherine Webb to be a judge at the Miss USA Pageant coming up in Las Vegas."
