History Center hosts book fair with local authors

Books in the 'Burgh, a free one-day event, will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at the Senator John Heinz History Center, Strip District. More than 40 authors will sign copies of their work and mingle with the public.
The newest publication is "The Civil War in Pennsylvania: A Photographic History," which features rare images gathered by historians Michael G. Kraus, David M. Neville and Kenneth C. Turner. The authors will discuss how they found the images in a talk at 1 p.m. with the book's editor, Brian Butko.
Other authors attending:
• Steve Blass, Pirates announcer and former pitcher, author of "A Pirate for Life."
• Andy Russell, former Steelers linebacker, author of "Beyond the Goalpost."
• Brian O'Neill, Post-Gazette columnist and author of "The Paris of Appalachia: Pittsburgh in the 21st Century."
• Eleanor Schano, local broadcast anchor and author of "Riding the Airwaves: The Life and Televised Times of Eleanor Schano."
• Dave Crawley, KDKA-TV personality and author of "Cat Poems" and "Dog Poems."
• Chuck Finder, former Post-Gazette reporter and author of "The Steelers Encyclopedia."
• Jim O'Brien, Pittsburgh sports historian and author of "Immaculate Reflections."
Books in the 'Burgh and History Center museum shop are free. Regular admission prices apply for history center exhibits. Visitors who pay museum admission can sign up for free docent-led tours at 11 a.m., noon and 1 p.m. of the exhibition "Gridiron Glory: The Best of the Pro Football Hall of Fame."
