The Frick Art & Historical Center announced today that it is bringing a major exhibition of Faberge objects to Pittsburgh in the fall.
"Faberge: The Hodges Family Collection" comprises more than 100 objects made by the legendary House of Faberge, goldsmith and jeweler to the Russian court.
The show was organized by the New Orleans Museum of Art from the collection of American Daniel L. Hodges, assembled over the past two decades. A highlight is "The Bismarck Box," the first important imperial commission made by Faberge and the only imperial portrait presentation box set with an image of Alexander III.
The entire Frick campus will participate in the Faberge event, including the exhibit of decorative luxury objects from the collection at Clayton, three Rolls-Royce automobiles at the Car and Carriage Museum, and Russian beer, premium vodkas and menu items at The Cafe at the Frick.
The exhibition runs Oct. 23 through Jan. 15. Information: www.FabergeAtTheFrick.org.
