Artists embedded with Pittsburgh companies for Warhol project
If you were an artist, where would you find inspiration?
In a gorgeous landscape or a historic event?
How about in a vodka distillery? Robotics lab? Corporate headquarters? Newspaper office?
These were some of the sites selected for residencies by 14 artists invited to participate in an Andy Warhol Museum project. The resultant artworks are featured in a recently opened exhibition, "Factory Direct: Pittsburgh," at the museum and at Guardian Self-Storage in the Strip District.
Fourteen photographs of the artists, some from Pittsburgh and others as far away as Europe, were taken by Post-Gazette photographer Bill Wade at a June 23 reception at Guardian.
The resultant artworks are exhibited in "Factory Direct: Pittsburgh," at The Warhol and at Guardian Self-Storage, continuing the business theme, through Sept. 9.
