The Steelers signed another of their own free agents Wednesday, inside linebacker Stevenson Sylvester.
Sylvester became an unrestricted free agent after the Steelers did not issue him a tender as a restricted free agent. They drafted him in the fifth round in 2010 after he played at Utah. He played in10 games last season and had no defensive statistics. He has started one game in his career and played in 41.
He signed a one-year contract.
The Steelers also entertained three other unrestricted free agents and two more draft prospects.
The veterans were former Pitt running back LaRod Stephens-Howling (Arizona Cardinals), linebacker Tavares Gooden (Baltimore Ravens) and guard Antoine Caldwell (Houston Texans).
The college prospects were Penn State inside linebacker Michael Mauti and linebacker Malliciah Goodman of Clemson.
They have had nine college players visit them since Monday. The others were Texas A&M running back Christine Michael, linebackers John Simon of Ohio State, Vince Williams of Florida State, Jarvis Jones of Georgia, Jamie Collins of Southern Mississippi and Khaseem Greene of Rutgers, and safeties Jonathan Meeks of Clemson and Phillip Thomas of Fresno State.
