Steelers' Taylor, Polamalu fined

Steelers safety Troy Polamalu and cornerback Ike Taylor each were fined $15,000 for illegal plays Sunday in a 35-7 loss at Baltimore. Polamalu was fined for an illegal horse-collar tackle on Ravens running back Ricky Williams and Taylor was fined for unnecessarily head-butting a Ravens player. Both plays drew penalties.

Ravens linebacker Brendon Ayanbadejo also was fined $15,000 for unnecessary roughness when he used a horse-collar tackle.


Coach Gary Kubiak expects running back Arian Foster to play Sunday against the Miami Dolphins. Foster returned to practice this week after missing the season opener because of a left hamstring injury.


A Super Bowl ring lost four decades ago off Waikiki will soon be returned to former center John Schmitt. KGMB-TV in Honolulu reports that a Honolulu family wants to return the ring to Schmitt, who earned the ring when the Jets upset the Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl III. The ring slipped off Schmitt's finger in 1971 while he was taking surf lessons about a quarter mile off Waikiki. He didn't notice the ring was missing until he got back to shore.


Cornerback Brandon Flowers said on Twitter that he agreed to a new contract. Flowers is in the final year of the rookie contract he signed in 2008. Terms of the new deal were not available.
