It appears Pittsburgh will have its own version of the royal wedding in July.
The celebrity news website TMZ.com posted what it said is a "Save the Date" card that was sent to folks on the invite list for the wedding of Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and his girlfriend Ashley Harlan, of Hickory Township, Lawrence County.
The card said the two would be wed July 23 in Pittsburgh, but offered no details such as time or location. At the bottom is a notation that reads: "Invitation to follow."
While a variety of sports, news and celebrity gossip websites picked up the TMZ.com report, none were able to independently confirm the wedding date.
Roethlisberger's agent Ryan Tollner could not be reached for confirmation. A Steelers spokesperson said the organization does not comment on players' personal matters.
Harlan's father, David, was reached at his home outside of New Castle, Pa., Sunday, but said he had no comment on the TMZ.com report. He said it would be up to the couple to decide what to say and when to say it.
A month ago, when news of the engagement filtered out, Harlan and his wife Gloria declined to comment as well.
Harlan grew up in Hickory Township and is a graduate of Laurel High School, where she played softball. She also holds a bachelor's degree in health science and a master's degree as a physician assistant from Saint Francis University in Loretto, Cambria County.
