Steelers Fuller: Steelers will lose

Monday, January 06, 2003

By Dejan Kovacevic, Post-Gazette Sports Writer

Corey Fuller, cornerback for the Cleveland Browns and one of the NFL's most colorful talkers, offered an unsolicited prediction for the Steelers' next playoff game.

"Hey, I'll tell you this right now. Print this: They'll be going home next week," Fuller said. "They'll be joining us. They've got one more week. And we gave it to them. We did that. It was un-freaking-believable."

Informed that the Steelers will face the Tennessee Titans, Fuller replied: "That's who they play? Their running game isn't as good as they think it is, you know what I'm saying? Their linemen are big and all, but they aren't that good. With Jevon Kearse playing and Tennessee's passing game, it's going to be hard to hold Tennessee back. What did they have today, one breakout run? I don't think they can run the ball on Tennessee."

He also was unimpressed with the passing of Tommy Maddox.

"He was throwing the balls out there to be picked off. It's not like he was making great throws. They wanted to run Kordell Stewart out of here. If we played a little smarter, they would have been trying to run Maddox out of here by the end of the day."
