Steelers Noll to present Bradshaw at Dapper Dan dinner Feb. 9

Thursday, November 28, 2002

From local dispatches

Chuck Noll will make the presentation speech when Terry Bradshaw is inducted into the Pittsburgh Hall of Fame at the Dapper Dan Dinner Feb. 9 at the Pittsburgh Hilton and Towers.

"Chuck will never know how much it means to me to have him introduce me," Bradshaw said. "It lets me know that everything is as it should be."

Bradshaw's induction will be one of the highlights of the annual sports banquet, and having Noll as his presenter promises to be an emotional moment. Noll, who entered the Pittsburgh Hall of Fame last year, was Bradshaw's coach throughout the 1970s as the Steelers won four Super Bowls.

"I'm thrilled and excited to be coming back to Pittsburgh for the Dapper Dan Dinner in February and to have Chuck introduce me," Bradshaw said.

Bradshaw, who created a stir when he asked broadcasting partner Vern Lundquist to make his presentation speech at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1989, began to patch up his relationship with the Steelers and Pittsburgh when he returned to be honorary captain at a Monday night game against the Indianapolis Colts in October.

"Terry is a very special person," said Noll. "He was a great leader and was able to take us to four Super Bowl championships. He's deserving of this honor."

Besides Bradshaw's induction in the Pittsburgh Hall of Fame, the dinner will feature the presentation of the 2002 Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year. The first ballot for those awards will appear Sunday in the Post-Gazette. Winners will be announced in late December.

Tickets for the dinner are $125 and $75 and can be order from the Dapper Dan Charites office at 412-263-3850.
