4 Steelers selected for NFL Insider's 'Dream Team' Hall of Fame voters pick team for magazine launched by league Wednesday, August 02, 2000 By Ed Bouchette, Post-Gazette Sports Writer
Steelers fans might argue that any NFL all-time team that leaves Jack Lambert off its list is missing its front teeth, but they can't argue one thing -- the Steelers dominate this one, too.
Four Steelers have been selected to the NFL Insider's "Dream Team," more than any other franchise.
The new magazine, the first launched by the NFL, was picked by the Pro Football Hall of Fame voters and includes only a first team.
The Steelers on the list are defensive tackle Joe Greene, linebacker Jack Ham, cornerback Mel Blount and center Mike Webster. All played on the four Super Bowl teams, all have been inducted into the Hall of Fame and all were on the NFL's 75th Anniversary team, chosen six years ago.
The 75th Anniversary team, however, included more players. Steelers on that team who were left off this one include Lambert and cornerback Rod Woodson.
The only quarterback chosen on this latest Dream Team is Pittsburgh native Johnny Unitas. Three active players made the list: wide receiver Jerry Rice, Deion Sanders as a punt returner, and defensive end Reggie White.
The team will be featured in the magazine's September issue, on sale Aug. 15.
