Comment From Scott

I was thinking about stealing the duck and floating down to Morgantown for the game with a case of beers. I was working on calculating what time I would have to leave when I realized that Morgantown is upstream from Pittsburgh. Why is is that our brain thinks south is always downstream? Do you have a boat I can borrow?

1:01

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

We've been geographically duped, Scott. South=down=downstream, in our minds. But, hey, if we can find a way to float on dahn to Morgantown on the duck, I'm in. I have no boat, sadly.

1:01

Comment From Scott

Where would you rank WVU on a list of best CFB coaching jobs? Mine would go something like 1.Alabama 2.Texas 3.ND then somewhere between 25-40 lies jobs like WVU. Then 120.Michigan WVU is a far more attractive job than TTU. Confirm/Deny

1:03

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Well, yikes, I don't know if Michigan is 120, big guy. But I think you're probably right on the other bullets. At this point, Alabama has to sit at the top. Texas and Notre Dame close behind. If you're looking at the arc of the entirety of college football history, ND would be my No. 1, but today it's Alabama. I'm with you that WVU would sit somewhere in that above-average range.

1:04

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Now, Texas Tech has the difficulty of competing in its own state with the likes of Texas, Texas A&M, Baylor, etc. so it's going to be hard to even be a top-four or top-five job in your own state. So, despite the current states of the programs, I'd say WVU is a better job.

1:04

Comment From Chad

What's the latest on the QB depth chart?

1:05

Comment From Scott

Tuberville left there for Cincy!

1:05

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Gather 'round, gather 'round for your weekly QB question ...

1:06

Who will start at QB vs. Texas Tech?

Clint Trickett (1-1)

( 78% )

Ford Childress (1-1)

( 0% )

Paul Millard (1-1)

( 0% )

Gregory McPherson (0-0)

( 22% )

1:07

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

(I'm all about this McPherson cat, by the way.) Okay, here's the deal on the three-horse QB race ... it's Clint Trickett's job if he's healthy. Apparently he's healthy this week. He said he feels great but it was tough, he wasn't anywhere near 100% vs. Baylor.

1:07

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Ford Childress "has got to do better" to catch up after missing a few weeks with a torn pectoral. He should be healthy this week. Paul Millard is the same as always: steady, unspectacular.

1:08

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

So, the depth officially is: Trickett - Millard - Childress.

1:09

Comment From Scott

I voted for this Gregory fellow because I've never heard of him. He couldn't be worse!

1:09

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Walk-on freshman!

1:09

Comment From Steve

Sitting at 3-3 6 games in with a pretty tough slate over their next 6, what odds are you giving WVU to go bowling this year?

1:11

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

I'm no oddsmaker, but I've got them bowling this year. Last six games are vs. Texas Tech, Kansas State, TCU, Texas, Kansas, Iowa State. That's a GREAT back-stretch if you're WVU.

1:11

Comment From Drew

Should we be expecting 70+ points to be scored on us from the Red Raider offensive attack?

1:12

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Well, it's another top-20, unbeaten opponent, but, nah, we're not going to see either side get 70+ points. For as many questions as WVU has at QB, Texas Tech has as many. They're juggling three QBs in Michael Brewer, Baker Mayfield and Davis Webb -- a sophmore and two true freshmen. (Difference is they're actually good when they play.)

1:13

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

No word yet on who's starting. This offense has been averaging a pretty 41.8 points per game, but it's been against pretty paltry opponents. Don't expect them to go all Baylor on WVU, a defense that will be rebounding from an unimpressive effort.

1:13

Comment From Chad

The NCAA ranks WVU's SOS as 5th in the country. That's got to play in to going bowling, even if they finish 6-6 or 7-5.

1:14

Comment From Chad

Going forward, obviously Holgorsen needs a stable, able QB to run his system. He doesn't obviously have one this year. Are there recruits in the hopper for next season?

1:14

Comment From Scott

There are so many bowls that every team with 6 wins gets to play in one...

1:14

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

In William Crest We Trust.

1:15

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Crest is a commit from the Baltimore area and is a dual-threat QB. He's the future, as far as QB is concerned, and he's what this offense needs. But he's not here for a while, so WVU has to make do with what it's got.

1:15

1:15

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Clint Trickett has the best QB hair -- it's the hair of a leader. That's all I've got to say about that.

1:15

Comment From Drew

So the FOX College Saturday Tour is going to be in Morgantown this weekend...should we care?

1:15

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

No.

1:15

Comment From Don Ramsey

What is up with the uniforms. They are ridiculous. They are an affront to college football traditions.

1:16

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

I like WVU's uniforms, for the most part. But, please, take the yellow-on-yellow away.

1:16

Comment From Scott

WTF is fox college saturday tour?

1:16

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

I know, right?

1:16

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

But, yeah, it's Fox Sports 1's equivalent to College GameDay.

1:16

Comment From Scott

When will teams realize that the best way to defend against trickett is to play WRs at safety and have them run to the center of the field about 40 yards from the LOS to wait for the inevitable jump-ball?

1:18

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

This is probably one of the more rational approaches. Here's the deal, man. WVU realizes it can't establish the line of scrimmage (LOS), so it has Trickett going deep again and again and again. Almost to a comical extent. If that doesn't hit, it kills drives. And it hits about once in 10 tries, so it's an ugly approach. Holgorsen said they're going to keep doing it if it's what the defense gives.

1:18

Comment From Scott

Who is their equivalent to Corso? Joey Harrington?

1:18

Comment From Guest

Not very lively in here, eh, OW?

1:18

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

It's lively, mister.

1:18

Comment From Steve

Saw on twitter you were over in State College with some wolves this weekend. How does State College and Beaver Stadium in particular compare to WVU's digs?

1:18

Comment From Drew

If Erin Andrews Isn't in Morgantown with the FOX College Tour, they might as well turn around and go home because we don't want them here anymore than we want Pitt in Motown.

1:19

Comment From Chad

+1 Drew

1:20

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

State College was a hoot and a holler. Had a pretty wild weekend out there and endured a ridiculous Michigan/Penn State game. It just doesn't compare. Like, at all. Beaver Stadium was one of the best college football atmospheres I've experienced. There hasn't been a game (night game, too) of that magnitude in M'Town since I got here.

1:20

Comment From Chad

How in the world did Michigan lose that game on Saturday?!

1:20

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Playing not to lose ... which means you're putting the game on the foot of your kicker. And then you live or die by him. It was a terrible, conservative approach. But it was a great game to watch live.

1:20

Comment From Scott

So here's the team for Fox fake gameday: Eddie George, Petros Papadakis, Joel Klatt, Clay Travis and Mike Pereira. I can't even watch WVU games with the audio on when Petros Papadorkis is on. Why would I watch that? And who is Clay Travis? Some country singer?

1:21

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Pretty much. https://twitter.com/ClayTravisBGID

1:21

Comment From Don Ramsey

The QB's Childress and Trickett look more like boyband members. I am sure they get alot of, um, action off of the field. But maybe WVU needs a QB who looks like Big Ben or Peyton Manning. Thoughts?

1:21

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Paging a high-school QB with a massive forehead and an NFL dad. Does that dadgum Andrew Luck have eligibility left?

1:22

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Lots of RichRod questions in the hopper. I'll get to them in a minute.

1:22

Comment From Don Ramsey

Is WVU considered to be the USC of the Appalachians by the outside world??

1:22

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Sure.

1:22

Comment From Don Ramsey

Steve, how bad is the Big 12 this year? The Okie State game looked like a big win, but now.....not so much. It is better than the old Big East. But it is 5th amongst the top 5 conferences. How does this happen?

1:22

Comment From Drew

If this is the entertainment that the Big 12 has been dealing with before WVU got there, its no wonder they don't play defense in this conference and score 100 combined points in a game...that is far more entertaining than FOX Sports College Tour.

1:22

Comment From Scott

Maybe Tony Siragusa has a kid

1:23

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Well, I think there's a huge divide between the haves and the have nots in the Big 12. Basically, that's "has a QB" and "doesn't" (thought TTU might be the exception). Last year, just about everyone had a veteran, talented QB. Now, very few do.

1:23

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Baylor is a top-10 caliber team. Everyone else still has to prove they deserve to belong in the top-20.

1:23

Comment From WVU4Life

I'd like to know about this Mcpherson fella too. I didn't even know there was another qb on the chart.

1:24

Comment From Drew

Losing to Maryland a couple weeks ago was an all-time low for me as a WVU fan. Since I've followed and gone to school at WVU, we've always beaten Maryland and the way that they just played with us that weekend was tough to watch. Not a big fan of MD so if we're taking a highly recruited QB from them, I'm all for it.

1:24

Comment From Don Ramsey

Hypothetical. Do you think a) the Big 12 is regretting taking WVU over Louisville? b) do you think if the Big 12 took Louisville, would WVU be the team chosen by the ACC to take Maryland's spot?

1:25

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

I wasn't around for the good ol' days of Big 12 expansion, but, gosh, Louisville would be great for the Big 12 right now. But ... I think WVU has more staying power in the long run. WVU is the established program that's in a lull at the moment, Louisville might be more of a flash in the pan.

1:25

Comment From Scott

The ACC is terrible

1:25

Comment From Scott

Who was the better college player: Pat White or Denard Robinson?

1:25

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Gregory McPherson is.

1:25

Comment From Red Scalper

How many years of 6-6 or slightly better ball does Dear Dana have before he's given the axe?

1:25

Comment From Don Ramsey

Do you think Dana Holgersen will be coaching here in two years?

1:25

Comment From Chad

Louisville is a basketball school. They are only undefeated this year because their SOS is ridiculously low. WVU would be undefeated with their schedule this year

1:25

Comment From Don Ramsey

FSU, Clemson and VT are all better than any Big 12 team.

1:26

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

How many years of 6-6? Well, shoot, not many coaches at top-25 caliber programs would be around for more than three or four years of that. So, if it's 6-6 every year? I'll give him through next year.

1:26

Comment From Chad

VT? That's a good one.

1:26

Comment From Scott

Don RAmsey must be some sort of Pitt fan ACC apologist

1:26

Comment From Drew

Louisville's Pappa John's Stadium has 3 seats...not too good of a recruiting tool is it?

1:26

Comment From Scott

Maybe we should've staying in the AMERICA YAY conference

1:26

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Or, like Louisville's bball arena's name: KFC Yum! Arena.

1:26

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

I want the KFC Yum! American Conference.

1:26

Comment From Scott

Papa John is so irritating in those commercials

1:26

Comment From Drew

Stephen, did you ever see Texas winning that Red River Shootout against OU? I sure didn't, it was the highlight of my weekend since I didn't have any Pirates baseball to follow :/

1:27

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Sorry, bubba. I didn't see it coming. Not many did. Now that Texas game on WVU's schedule looks a lot more difficult. But it's in Morgantown, and that'll help.

1:27

Comment From Don Ramsey

I am a realist. Look at the Big 12 this year. And Louisville is a much better athletic program than WVU. It is not a contest.

1:27

Comment From Scott

If you were to bring back zombie Bill Stewart to coach the team, which player would you feed him first? I'd go with Ivan McCartney but I'd try feeding him Nick O'Toole's mustache first to see if it was some sort of super-food.

1:27

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Just gonna let that one go.

1:28

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

... and on to RichRod talk for a few moments.

1:28

Comment From Chad

What do you make of all the RichRod talk? Vingle wrote a Charleston Gazette column with an interview with RichRod and his regrets. With the talk of Luck possibly moving on, what's the feeling around WVU?

1:28

Comment From WVU4Life

What's up with all of these things I'm hearing of Rich Rod coming back? Why would we even want that? Talk about low morale for players.

1:28

Comment From Tom

Is Don Ramsey a pitt fan? I think so.

1:28

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

If you didn't see this already, Rich Rod did an interview with Seth Davis of CollegeInsiders: http://blogs.post-gazette.com/sports/2013-06-20-18-53-28/all-eers/39434-rich-rodriguez-i-owed-an-explanation-to-west-virginia

1:28

Comment From JJ Payne

Rich Rod back in Morgantown? Don't believe I could cheer for him at a game. How could he re-vive his Motown support?

1:28

Comment From Scott

Funny how all these "betrayed hillbillies" are begging for RRod back now.

1:29

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

WVU folk are absolutely silly about Rich Rodriguez. I can't tell you how many furious emails I get each time that I mention RR in a story.

1:29

Comment From Scott

DEY TOOK AR COACH!@@@@!!!

1:29

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

The notable quotes from that story: "I still wasn't going to take the job if I thought the administration at the time at West Virginia had the same vision I did as far as growing the program."

1:29

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

"If I could do one thing over again, I would have a press conference at West Virginia and explain some of these things. I was kind of told to not do that by the next employer [Michigan], 'Hey, move on.' I got some advice to not do that. But I owed that to West Virginia."

1:30

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

"The only thing I wish I got -- I'm glad the thing got settled and all that, but there were opportunities for me to really say what happened, because people didn't know what happened, they thought I just got into a car and left for Michigan. No, no. When Michigan offered the position, I didn't take the job right then. I said, I'm going to go back and talk to my superiors at West Virginia and tell them what's going on and see what they think about it and give them an opportunity to say, 'Hey, we want you guys to stay here and keep doing what you're doing and we're with you all the way.' When that meeting went the other way and they said, 'Listen, we've done all we can with you. Take it or leave it.' I almost felt like I was getting pushed out the door. Now that was my perception, but that's what I felt."

1:30

Comment From Major Harris

Rich Rod will NEVER coach in Morgantown again, can we please move on?

1:30

Comment From Drew

This is by far the best chat that the Post Gazette has going for them Stephen, you're alright.

1:30

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

You're my best friend of all day.

1:30

Comment From Chad

If there's a WVU fan out there who'd rather have RichRod back than Holgorsen, that's crazy talk. Holgorsen just needs players. Stewart left the cupboard dry, save for Geno, Tavon and SB3. He'll get players. His system works. How soon we forget Clemson and 70-33.

1:30

Comment From Scott

If RRod won 9 games nobody would remember a thing.

1:31

Comment From Scott

I'm good for this chat

1:32

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

So, if RR is to be believe, here's the long and short of what happened: 10 days after the regular season, Michigan called. He spoke with them, then spoke with the administration. Admin wasn't dedicated to the program, wasn't willing to budge, showed him the door. He was advised by Michigan not to give an explanation. (He regrets that now.) Then the lawsuit got really messy when it didn't need to.

1:32

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

So, neither Michigan nor WVU looks good in that.

1:32

Comment From Don Ramsey

RichRod would be great. If he can bring Pat White and Steve Slaton with him.

1:32

Comment From Don Ramsey

Who would the faithful want to restore themselves back to glory? WVU and RichRod? Or the Soviet Union with Stalin?

1:32

Comment From JJ Payne

I know that if we would have won against Pitt, Rich Rod would have never left. Now that know who he is, how could anyone support that?

1:32

Comment From Scott

Stalin was misunderstood.

1:32

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Retweet.

1:33

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Didn't want to get into politics here, but Scott's probably onto something.

1:33

Comment From Chad

I don't believe for a second RR didn't have one foot already in Michigan at the Pitt game. Not a chance.

1:33

Comment From Major Harris

Which assistant coach on our staff could you see being a head coach?

1:33

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Major! Big names on the chat this week.

1:33

Comment From Chad

Major, don't you have one year of eligibility left?

1:34

Comment From Major Harris

Nope, mom told me to go pro!

1:34

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

If I had my pick? Keith Patterson.

1:34

Comment From Scott

Was there a worse decision to leave early ever?

1:34

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Patterson's got a great demeanor, is a coach that players love to play for.

1:34

Comment From Major Harris

Don't think so Scott

1:34

Comment From Scott

Maybe Jamarcus Russell?

1:34

Comment From BigCat

RichRod broke my heart and caused to me cry on the airwaves!

1:34

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Was it an embarrassing or cathartic cry?

1:34

Comment From JJ Payne

I say we give Rod another chance. Put him at waterboy and see if he can do it like Bobby Boucher

1:34

Comment From Scott

Hey Bigcat. I thought you died

1:35

Comment From Chad

Yikes

1:35

Comment From Don Ramsey

So you don't think Louisville is a better athletic program than WVU? That makes me a Pitt fan? BB championship. BCS appearance. College World Series. Come on folks...it is one thing to be homers, it is another to be stupid.

1:35

Comment From Guest

Is Holgorson just not a head coach?

1:36

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

I can't really say. I don't know. Simply looking at his r??sum??, he's a darn good offensive coordinator, and that's where he's had the most success. But it's hard to gauge how he's done behind closed doors, you know, the parts of the job that aren't on the field where he stalks the sideline like a crazed general.

1:36

Comment From Drew

I vote Don Ramsey out of the chat.

1:36

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Can't do.

1:36

Comment From BigCat

I am back in zombie form ready to eat the brains of those who want RichRod back

1:36

Comment From Don Ramsey

Yes, McClean Stevenson leaving MASH early was a worse decision.

1:36

Comment From Chad

Hey Don, look at WVU's BCS record, a final four appearance in the last 3 years... Nobody watches the college world series. Give me a break.

1:36

Comment From Major Harris

Its all about football Don. Check our track records over the past 20 years. Check pitt's too while you're at it.

1:36

Comment From Major Harris

I second that Drew.

1:36

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

It just makes everyone feel warm and fuzzy when ol' Major Harris agrees with them.

1:37

Comment From Don Nehlen

I'm still alive!

1:37

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

This is scary, and this is weird.

1:37

Comment From BigCat

Chad, you should be wearing pom poms. Louisville. No one outside this vapid state would even argue WVU is better.

1:38

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Someone please register 1:37 on Oct. 16, 2013 as the first time "vapid" was used on a P-G live chat. Everyone give yourselves a hand.

1:38

Comment From Scott

I saw dandy don with his wife leaving a game early. I almost posted on a message board saying he wasnt a true fan but I was leaving early too.

1:38

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Gasp!

1:38

Comment From Guest

Was Brian Jozwiak the greatest OL in WV history?

1:39

Comment From Scott

Wes Ours was the best OL ever.

1:39

Comment From Don Ramsey

Brian Jozwiak? Isn't he like a bartender now?

1:39

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Googled Joz's name and found this: http://bit.ly/19J6qqA. So, yes.

1:39

Comment From Chad

Seriously, why is WVU's SOS not considered by most fans and the media? The 5th toughest schedule is nothing to sneeze at.

1:40

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

I've considered it, and I agree. I sneezed about a half hour ago, but I assure you it had nothing to do with WVU's SOS.

1:40

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Oklahoma, Maryland, Oklahoma State and Baylor were each unbeaten when they faced WVU and each was in the top-25 at some point in the first half. That's significant. (And overblown a bit, sure.)

1:41

Comment From Guest

Is Holgorson just 'bereft' of talent on the defensive side of the ball?

1:41

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

You must be new around here.

1:41

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Because I'm pretty sure that's an obvious "no."

1:42

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Karl Joseph, Daryl Worley, Will Clarke, Shaq Rowell, Darwin Cook, Nick Kwiatkoski. Those guys would play for most any team in the country, believe you me.

1:43

Comment From Scott

Poor joke, Steve

1:43

Comment From Don Ramsey

Chad, you are right. Top 5 SOS, wow WVU should be ranked!!!

1:43

Comment From Drew

I remember my first chat Guest.

1:43

Comment From Scott

Karl Joseph has no talent

1:43

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

OK, big meanie.

1:43

Comment From Chad

Is that the first time bereft has been used in a chat?

1:43

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Ding ding! We're on fire.

1:43

Comment From Chad

That duck is getting a little dusty, huh?

1:43

Comment From Don Ramsey

Didn't Maryland lose by 63 to Florida State?

1:43

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Maybe.

1:44

Comment From Chad

Is Daryl Worley the guy who wrote that "Have you forgotten" country song?

1:44

Comment From teddyballgame14

Who cares about strength of schedule when you can't win? Or even be competitive in certain games? Getting EMBARRASSED by at least Maryland and Baylor renders any discussion of SOS absolutely meaningless... And Bowl Games this year? We're talking about BOWL GAMES??? Really? Pardon me, while I attempt to channel my inner-Jim Mora...

1:44

Comment From Scott

Don - make a non ACC post

1:44

Comment From Scott

This may be before your time, but Grant Wiley was an awesome LB for WVU back when I was there. He has since moved to NYC and started making music. I urge you to check it out. Its absolutely terrible and hilarious

1:44

Comment From JJ Payne

I think we need a unite in Mountaineer nation. I mean come on, did we really expect a BCS Championship this year?

1:45

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Yikes, I hope not.

1:45

Comment From Ghost of Coach Stew

We need to move mountains. We are Mountaineers. We got to remember this.

1:45

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Oh man, someone get out the clich?? meter, our ghost friend just broke it!

1:45

Comment From Chad

LEAVE NO DOUBT. Or something...

1:45

Comment From Drew

Maryland just didn't like their uniform choice for the Florida State game...that's why they decided to give up 63 points just to make a statement.

1:45

Comment From Drew

Just because Loserville had one good football year/player, doesn't mean your program is above all others...there is a reason we left you back in what is now the American Athletic Conference.

1:46

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Hahahahahaha I get it because you said Loserville not Louisville!

1:46

Comment From teddyballgame14

Part of a coach's success is his ability to coach X's and O's, while another significant part is his ability recruit, develop, motivate and retain talented players. Why are both the football and basketball teams failing at the latter?

1:46

Comment From Don Ramsey

Not a Louisville fan, but I think they landed in a pretty damn good place.

1:46

Comment From Drew

Oh did I spell that wrong? That's my WVU education talking...

1:46

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Shots fired.

1:46

Comment From Scott

The leave no doubt speech was lame

1:46

Comment From Major Harris

Whats your thoughts on our offensive line play?

1:47

Comment From Red Scalper

This Grant Wiley song you mentioned is top notch... "Mountaineer Nation Throw yo hands up Feel your fire Burn inside Take yo hands And reach for the sky Mountain Streams Gold and blue Runs in our veins Through and through"

1:47

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Link or it didn't happen, Scalper.

1:47

Comment From Ghost of Coach Stew

Who you callin' lame Colin? Come on fellas...LEAVE NO DOUBT!

1:48

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Well, they say they've got the right guys in there on OL and have figured it out. We'll see how it turns out. Moving Spain to guard was an interesting move, not sure it's Spain's strong suit, but it was necessary. They have to find a way to establish the LOS or it won't be pretty for the running game moving forward.

1:48

Comment From Don Ramsey

Alright, alright I was just kidding, I am a die-hard Louisville fan.

1:48

Comment From Bill Stewart

Howdy, ya'll. When we gettin' down to playin' some Moun'eer football?

1:48

Comment From Billy Temple

What's your opinion on bye weeks? Will this past week help or hurt our boys?

1:50

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Billy -- For WVU is was crucial as a get-healthy week. They were decimated by injuries and needed time to heal. Now, I don't think it'll give a competitive advantage other than the health factor, but they certainly won't be worse than they were vs. Baylor.

1:50

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

worse/unprepared

1:50

Comment From Don Ramsey

I predict WVU will not give up 70 to Bye Week, so we have that going for us.

1:50

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Agreed.

1:50

Comment From Scott

There was this guy who used to stand outside the lair and rap. His name was 6'6 240 but he looked more like 315. He had 1000x more talent than this Gn8 crap. He sort of smelled bad though.

1:50

Comment From Don Ramsey

Ummm....I didnt post the last "I am a die hard Louisville fan". Lame attempt by Chad.

1:50

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Classic move by my man Chad.

1:50

Comment From Drew

I knew it Don!

1:50

Comment From Don Ramsey

Better wings? Crocketts or Keglers? (another non ACC post)

1:50

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Never had either.

1:50

Comment From Guest

If Major Harris was coming out in next years draft would he be a #1 selection?

1:51

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Teddy Bridgewater for life.

1:51

Comment From Don Ramsey

What would be the score of an Oregon/Baylor BCS Champ game? (non ACC)

1:51

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

It would set records.

1:51

Comment From Don Ramsey

I'm just googling places in morgantown. The best wings are at KFC YUM! Center

1:51

Comment From Red Scalper

"The original "Mountaineer Nation" is a stadium thumper constructed with traditional and original chants that can be played and deconstructed for in-game situations to increase fan/player interaction." - from the gn8 music website

1:51

Comment From Bill Stewart

MATCH THE MOUNTAINS!

1:51

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

I'm embarrassed for you all with these cheers and songs.

1:52

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

I stick to the classics:

1:52

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Go Team

1:52

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Go College

1:52

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Go Varsity

1:52

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Say those and you'll get major kudos by fellow fans in the stands.

1:52

Comment From Ken Fish

There are three great football stadiums in the world... your own Michigan Stadium, Beaver Stadium in State College and ______?

1:52

Comment From Bill Stewart

YOU GOTTA OUT HIT 'EM, OUT HUSSLE 'EM, OUT BLOCK 'EM AND OUT TACKLE 'EM...IT'S MOUNTAINEER PRIDE!

1:54

Comment From Scott

Neyland at UT is massive

1:54

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Ken - You're confident and you've got moxy. It would have to be Comet Field at Grand Ledge High School in Grand Ledge, Michigan. Some legendary marching band performances were put down on that turf.

1:54

Comment From Scott

Now for a cheer they are here, triumphant! Here they come with banners flying, In stalwart step they're nighing, With shouts of vict'ry crying, We hurrah, hurrah, we greet you now, Hail!

1:54

Comment From Chad

Louisville's stadium

1:54

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

STALWART! Mark that one down, too. First time for every word around here.

1:54

Comment From Bill Stewart

Let them know, leave no doubt tonight, leave no doubt tonight, no doubt ??? they shouldn't of played the old gold and blue. Not this night!

1:55

Comment From Scott

Our host has sang the work Nighing. More than once

1:56

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

I don't even know what that means. If it's in reference for my propensity for intensity ... and the word "nigh," then I agree.

1:56

Comment From Chad

Looks like we have some funny guys on here Stephen.

1:56

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

I know. Gotta get 'em out.

1:56

Comment From Jim Duderstadt

STEVE: Five years down the line, who's happier with their conference switch? WVU or Maryland?

1:56

Comment From Scott

FUNNY HOW?

1:56

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

We're not talking about you, Scott.

1:56

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Obviously.

1:56

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Well, I'd say Maryland.

1:57

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

If I've got my numbers right, there's more money to be made there. Money equals happiness.

1:57

Comment From Don Ramsey

Louisville

1:57

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Neither is going to be contending for a conference championship for quite some time, I think.

1:57

Comment From Michael Brooks

Jim - I thought you hated football and college sports all together?

1:57

Comment From Drew

Do you think Geno Smith listened to a word Coach Stew said when he coached him for 1 season?

1:57

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Likely.

1:57

Comment From Scott

Don Ramsey:ACC Steve Nesbitt:B1G

1:57

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Steve Nesbitt is my father. He's a Michigan State guy, so he's B1G too.

1:58

Comment From Drew

That's why we voted Don Ramsey off of the island! Get him outta here

1:58

Comment From Don Ramsey

Steve, serious question. Since we are being serious here. Do all WV residents put tinfoil on their heads like "the Dude" does to tune in on the latest rumors on college football conference shuffling? Since it seems like WV is the epicenter for inside information.

1:58

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

We've found The Dude.

1:58

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Well, I've heard plenty of "expert" analyses the last two weeks about why Holgorsen should be outta here, so I'd say yes, tinfoil galore.

1:58

Comment From Scott

The Dude hates the ACC. Unsurprising that Don would take a jab at him...

1:59

Comment From Drew

Is that why they give us all of this tinfoil?

1:59

Comment From Chad

BTW. Stephen knows who the real Chad is. I know his bro....

1:59

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

And that's the cold, hard truth.

1:59

Comment From Chad

Prediction for this weekend, Stephen?

1:59

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Well, let me ponder that for this last minute while you all rustle together your predictions.

2:00

Comment From Drew

Oh right, there's a game this weekend! That's why we're all gathered here.

2:00

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

You were probably wondering, weren't you.

2:00

Comment From Keglers II fan

Seriously. WVU is in a conference where their closet team is 800 miles away. I would think this is not conducive for long term success. I would rather be in the SEC, ACC or B1G. But we did what we had to do. Still......that doesn't make our move better than others.

2:00

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

I've GOT it. My prediction is ...

2:00

Comment From Scott

Don we know that's you

2:01

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

35-27 TTU -- Trickett passes for two TDs, one INT. Nesbitt has two plates of press box food.

2:01

Comment From Scott

Texas Tech 56 and exasperated WVU team 24.

2:01

Comment From Drew

Can't fool us Donny! We have the tinfoil hats remember!

2:01

Comment From Drew

TTU: 42 WVU: 21

2:01

Comment From Drew

TTU: 42

2:01

Comment From Scott

42-14 TTU

2:02

Comment From Scott

KayJay Harris is the best RB of all time.

2:02

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

And to close as only Scott can, we have this apt and precise send-off:

2:02

Comment From Scott

Most misunderstood people in history 1. Stalin 2. Bill Stewart 3. Hellen Keller

2:02

Comment From Scott

Hey fake Scott. I was there for his 336 yard game.

2:02

Comment From Chad

WVU 35-31. Trickett has a career passing game. 400 yards and 4 Td's

2:03

Comment From Chad

TTU 48 WVU 17

2:03

Comment From Drew

I like the way you think Chad

2:03

Comment From Scott

That was misunderstood

2:03

Comment From Scott

I was too

2:03

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Fixed it, Scott.

2:03

Comment From Chad

Wow, the maturity from the kids living in their parents' basements is just illuminating.

2:03

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

Alright, team. I'm outta here. Thanks for joining the chat this week.

2:04

Comment From Drew

I agree Chad.

2:04

Comment From Mary Sue

Thanks, STEVE!

2:04

Comment From Chad

Thanks Stephen. Let's go Pens!

2:05

Stephen J. Nesbitt:

You're a sick man. Go Wings.
