San Francisco 49ers (13-4) at Carolina Panthers (12-4) * 1:05 p.m. ... The 49ers have won seven in a row and haven't allowed more than 20 points in any of those victories. But they lost to the Panthers, 10-9, Nov. 10. Only the Seahawks were stingier on defense than the Panthers, who ranked second in points, yards and rushing yards. However, this is the first playoff game for Cam Newton and he will have to outdo his counterpart, Colin Kaepernick, who already has three playoff victories. Prediction: 49ers, 19-13

San Diego Chargers (10-7) at Denver Broncos (13-3) * 4:40 p.m. ... The Chargers, as the No. 6 seed, are looking like the 2005 Steelers. They won their final four regular-season games, then went to Cincinnati and held the Bengals to 10 points. One of the wins in the streak was in Denver, a game in which the Chargers held the highest scoring team of the Super Bowl era to a season-low 20 points. It probably helps that Chargers coach Mike McCoy was Peyton Manning's offensive coordinator last season. Prediction: Chargers, 27-24

LAST WEEK: 3-1 (.750) * SEASON RECORD: 165-95 (.635)
