Sept. 7 TEXANS 1 p.m. ... The Houston Texans pulled one of the biggest upsets ever in their first Heinz Field visit in their first season (24-6 on Dec. 8, 2002).

Sept. 14 @BROWNS 8:15 p.m. ... Their early showdown last season led to early smackdown by the Steelers. Can they do it again to the upstart Browns?

Sept. 21 @EAGLES 4:15 p.m. ... Old Turnpike series between these two is alway rough and tumble, and that's just driving the toll road to get there.

Sept. 29 RAVENS 8:30 p.m. ... One of these days, the Ravens will figure out that this game is played with a quarterback. They open the season with rookie Joe Flacco.

Oct. 5 @JAGUARS 8:15 p.m. ... Payback, payback, payback. Of course, it is what the Steelers were saying before the playoffs in January, too.

Oct. 12 BYE WEEK. ... The Steelers share their bye week with the Buffalo Bills, Tennessee Titans and Kansas City Chiefs. It comes in the same week as it did in 2007.

Oct. 19 @BENGALS 1 p.m. ... Some teams have jails in their stadiums. The Bengals need one around their bench to go with the stripes on their helmets.

Oct. 26 GIANTS 4:15 p.m. ... For the first time since 2006, the Super Bowl champions will play in Heinz Field, as will the first of the two Mannings.

Nov. 3 @REDSKINS 8:30 p.m. ... Playing in the nation's capital on the eve of the presidential election! No landslide expected for either Steelers or Redskins.

Nov. 9 COLTS 4:15 p.m. ... Manning Bowl II: Peyton has never won in Heinz, but then Colts are 1-13 overall in Pittsburgh. First meeting since Steelers won playoff after '05.

Nov. 16 CHARGERS 4:15 p.m. ... Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers missed out on playing in his namesake Three Rivers Stadium. Someone block Merriman!

Nov. 20 BENGALS 8:15 p.m. ... Could this be Marvin Lewis' last game as a head coach in Pittsburgh? Bengals are 15-17 since playoff loss to Steelers.

Nov. 30 @PATRIOTS 4:15 p.m. ... The Steelers win in Massachusetts as often as the Republicans. Can't they ever play this game in September?

Dec. 7 COWBOYS 4:15 p.m. ... Everyone has been looking forward to this one. Let the Jessica Watch in Heinz Field begin. Dallas last visited in 1997.

Dec. 14 @RAVENS 1 p.m. ... Ravens will be trying to play the part of spoilers at this point in the season. They last made the playoffs after the 2006 season.

Dec. 21 @TITANS 1 p.m. ... An opportunity to contain Vince Young in Nashville, a pretty site except when the Steelers play there. Steelers are 0-3 there since winning in 2001.

Dec. 28 BROWNS 1 p.m. ... AFC North title could come down to this game, possibly the most meaning-ful in the Browns' new history.
