Steelers' Najeh Davenport charged in domestic dispute in Cleveland

Cleveland police have charged Pittsburgh Steelers running back Najeh Davenport with three misdemeanor counts in connection with a domestic dispute that occurred last Thursday.

Mr. Davenport, 28, is charged with domestic violence, endangering children, and unlawful restraint. The charges stem from a custody dispute with Anita Person, 27, of Cleveland, over their 5-year-old child.

Police responded to the 1300 block of E. 115th St. in Cleveland at around 9 p.m. Oct. 4 for reports of a domestic dispute .

Witnesses told police they saw Mr. Davenport hitting, and choking Ms. Person before he threw her to the ground.

Mr. Davenport could face up to 180 days in jail and $1,000 in fines if convicted of domestic violence or endangering children, both first-degree misdemeanors, and up to 60 days in jail and $500 in fines of unlawful restraint, a third-degree misdemeanor.
