FARMINGTON -- The new Sundial Lodge at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Fayette County, built on the site of the one destroyed by fire on Feb. 12, will offer more than ski and snowboard operations when it opens to the public on Monday.
During a media tour this morning, officials showed off a casual bar and dining outlet; bowling alleys; arcade games; a retail shop; and the resort's Adventure Headquarters. It will be open year-round.
Designed by DRS Architects of Pittsburgh, the lodge features a custom-designed Douglas fir roof and 200 feet of nearly continuous windows that provide panoramic views of the Laurel Highlands from the bar and dining room. The chimney of its natural stone fireplace and hearth towers two stories through the heart of the lodge.
General Manager Chris Plummer said the lodge will host live musical entertainment Dec. 24-30 and offer food and beverage specials. The complete opening week schedule can be found on the events calendar at www.nemacolin.com.mobilehome - breaking - ski
