College basketball roundup: No. 16 PSU women ease past Ohio State

Maggie Lucas scored 18 points to lead 16th-ranked Penn State in a 66-42 Big Ten win against Ohio State Thursday at Bryce Jordan Center.

Lucas also finished with five rebounds and five assists. Ariel Edwards was the only other Lady Lion to score in double figures, finishing with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Penn State (12-4, 3-1) shot just 25 of 72 from the floor (34.7 percent), but held the Buckeyes (12-8, 2-2) to 29.6 percent shooting (16 of 54).

Penn State was coming off an 84-74 loss against No. 21 Purdue that snapped a five-game winning streak.

■ North Carolina 78, Clemson 55: Diamond DeShields scored 24 points to help No. 9 North Carolina (15-3, 3-1 ACC) beat visiting Clemson (9-9, 1-3).

■ LSU 87, Missouri 68: Jeanne Kennedy scored 30 points to lead No. 14 LSU (14-3, 3-1 SEC) to a win at Missouri (13-5, 2-3).

■ North Carolina State 80, Florida State 57: Markeisha Gatling shot 8 for 8 for 20 points to help host No. 20 North Carolina State (16-2, 3-1 ACC) rout No. 17 Florida State (14-3, 2-2).

■ Vanderbilt 80, Mississippi 74: Christina Foggie scored 28 points as No. 24 Vanderbilt (15-3, 4-1 SEC) outlasted host Mississippi (9-9, 0-4).

■ Connecticut 83, Memphis 73: DeAndre Daniels had 23 points and a career-high 11 rebounds as Connecticut (14-3, 2-2 American Athletic Conference) pulled away for a win at No. 17 Memphis (12-4, 3-2).

■ Louisville 91, Houston 52: Wayne Blackshear scored 23 points and No. 18 Louisville (15-3, 4-1 AAC) used a strong offensive start to blow out visiting Houston (10-7, 2-2).

■ UCLA 69, Colorado 56: Norman Powell matched his season high with 19 points and No. 25 UCLA (14-3, 3-1 Pac-12) pulled away in the second half to win at No. 21 Colorado (14-4, 3-2).
