Backup quarterback Tyler Ferguson requested permission to speak to other universities about a transfer, Penn State confirmed. The news was first reported by the website Lions 24-7, which wrote that Ferguson was interested in attending a college closer to his home in California. Ferguson played sparingly in five games this season, most prominently in the blowout against Ohio State when he had 125 passing yards and a touchdown. Wherever Ferguson ends up, he'll have two years of eligibility after a redshirt season. He is the second Penn State quarterback to transfer this year.
