ST. LOUIS -- The Pirates today traded minor-league outfielder Chris Dickerson to the Cleveland Indians for a player to be named later or cash.
Dickerson, 32, hit .309 with a .407 on-base percentage in 236 at-bats for Class AAA Indianapolis this season.
Dickerson was a non-roster invitee to spring training. Top prospect Gregory Polanco, in addition to Starling Marte and Andrew McCutchen, blocked Dickerson from the major leagues despite his strong first half of the season.
Dickerson has appeared in the majors in parts of six seasons for the Cincinnati Reds, Milwaukee Brewers, New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles.
