MIAMI -- The Pirates optioned infielder Michael Martinez to Class AAA Indianapolis today to make room for right-hander Vance Worley, who will start today's game against the Miami Marlins.

The Pirates had called up Martinez, a utility infielder, after Josh Harrison rolled his left ankle in Wednesday's game. With second baseman Neil Walker already on the disabled list, they needed another body in case Jordy Mercer or Clint Barmes got hurt.

Harrison returned to the lineup Saturday, so Martinez is no longer needed.

By officially selecting Worley's contract from Indianapolis, the Pirates have filled their 40-man roster.
