The Pirates put opening-day starter Francisco Liriano on the 15-day disabled list before tonight's game because of a strained left oblique.

Right-hander Stolmy Pimentel was activated off the DL to take Liriano's spot on the roster.

Liriano's injury leaves the Pirates one starter short. The Pirates have not announced a starter for Sunday's game against the Miami Marlins, which would be Liriano's spot in the rotation. Adam Wilk, Jay Jackson and Vance Worley are all options at Class AAA Indianapolis. The Pirates could also turn to Pimentel, Casey Sadler or Jeanmar Gomez, though it is questionable whether any of them are stretched out enough to start.

Liriano hurt his oblique on a pitch during his start Tuesday against the Chicago Cubs.
