MILWAUKEE -- Pirates MVP center fielder Andrew McCutchen is back in the lineup tonight, and said he left the game for precautionary reasons on Friday night with ankle pain.

"All is well. Feeling good. In the lineup," McCutchen said. "Shouldn’t anything hinder me today."

McCutchen said he couldn't pinpoint what set off the pain in his ankle, whether it was a swing or something else, but that it feels fine today.

"Just something that nags you. Something that you just have to deal with really," he said. "Nothing’s bothering me today. Just taking safety precautions yesterday."

Manager Clint Hurdle said McCutchen was reevaluated earlier today and did everything from running routes in the outfield to hitting in the batting cage before he was cleared.

"Went out and did all the testing he could," Hurdle said. "He ran on the field. Turns. Outfield routes, things like that. Went in the cage and hit. Doctor re-looked at him. He feels comfortable and confident to be able to play."
