News of the day
Manager Clint Hurdle said the club accomplished everything it set out to do in Florida this spring.
“We’ve cut all the meat we can here. We’ll throw the bones in the street behind the bus on the way out,” said Hurdle. “Everything we had marked down to get done, we’ve gotten done. These guys have put forward a really great effort.
“The focus has been great. It’s time to head to Philly and take care what we’ve got to take care of there.”
Hurdle said the club answered questions at first base, right field and shortstop.
“Across the board, we’ve just worked very hard,” he said. “We’re in a good place, we’re ready to play.”
The team’s roster stands at 28 players, but it must be trimmed to 25 by 3 p.m. Sunday.
