MILWAUKEE -- Ross Ohlendorf's roll and Jeff Suppan's slide each stopped in the Pirates' 4-1 loss to Milwaukee this afternoon that completed a three-game sweep for the Brewers and marked their 21st loss in a row at Miller Park.

The Pirates, perhaps mercifully, do not play here again until next year, having gone 0-9 in 2009 alone. Their most recent victory came May 3, 2007.

Ohlendorf had made eight consecutive starts without allowing more than three runs, but he was charged with four in this one over six innings.

Suppan had been 0-4 with a 6.70 ERA in his previous nine starts, but allowed the Pirates just one run over six innings to win for the first time since June 12.

Milwaukee's Casey McGehee hit a solo home run in the second, and the Pirates' Garrett Jones did likewise in the third, his 16th of an increasingly remarkable rookie season.

The Pirates' best chance to break out came in the fourth, with the score 1-1, when Ohlendorf's infield single loaded the bases for Andrew McCutchen. But he grounded out to end the inning.

The Brewers did the breaking out with a three-run fifth: McGehee dropped a fluky single just beyond the mound and, after an out, Jason Kendall doubled and an intentional walk loaded the bases for Suppan. Ohlendorf's full-count walk to his counterpart put Milwaukee ahead, 2-1.

After a second out, Craig Counsell's two-run liner into left made it 4-1.

Ryan Doumit, back in the Pirates' lineup after a game-plus of being benched, went 0 for 4 with a popup, ground out into a double play, strikeout and line out. His average is at .215.

The lone bright spots: Jones reached base all four times up, with two hits and a walk. Lastings Milledge went 3 for 4. And Brandon Moss doubled twice.

The Pirates play a day-night doubleheader tomorrow at Cincinnati, with Daniel McCutchen making his major league pitching debut in Game 1.
