The Cleveland Indians are coming back.

After a six-year absence from PNC Park, the Indians are on Major League Baseball's tentative 2009 schedule as visiting Pittsburgh June 23-25, according to information given to the Associated Press Sports Editors. That will mark their first visit since a memorable weekend June 20-22, 2003, when the Pirates swept the series, all in front of sellout crowds.

The teams met most recently May 19-21, 2006, in Cleveland.

This is not an indication, however, that MLB is matching the teams as what it calls "natural rivals" in interleague play. The Indians and Cincinnati Reds will continue to carry that designation. Rather, it means the Pirates will be lined up with the American League Central Division in interleague play.
