VANCOUVER – The Pittsburgh Penguins will be well-represented at the Winter Olympics next month in Sochi, Russia.

Center Sidney Crosby and his linemate, left winger Chris Kunitz, were named today to Team Canada’s squad. It will be the second Olympics for Crosby, who scored the overtime goal in the gold-medal game in 2010. It will be the first Olympics for Kunitz.

Crosby leads the NHL this season with 63 points in 44 games.

Kunitz ranks sixth in the NHL with 47 points and is tied with Crosby for the team lead in goals with 23. He ranks second in the league in power-play goals with 11 and in plus-minus ratio at plus-22.

Center Evgeni Malkin will play for host Russia in his third Olympics. He has 44 points in 33 games this season.

Left winger Jussi Jokinen and defensemen Olli Maatta were named to Finland’s Olympic team. Jokinen won a silver medal in 2006. He has 12 goals, 30 points in 44 games this season with the Penguins. Maatta, a 19-year-old rookie, will be making his Olympic debut. He has played in 43 games and scored 13 points.

Penguins defensemen Paul Martin and Brooks Orpik last week were named to the U.S. roster. They will be joined by head coach Dan Bylsma and assistant coach Tony Granato of the Penguins.

The Penguins had been pushing for right winger James Neal to play for Canada. He has 34 points in 24 games but has missed games because of injuries.

Also left off of Canada's roster is Penguins goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury, who was the country's No. 3 goalie in 2010. He leads the NHL with 23 wins.
