The Penguins have recalled forward Harry Zolnierczyk from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League and placed forward Andrew Ebbett on injured reserve.
Zolnierczyk, 26, has a team-leading nine goals for Wilkes-Barre. He also played three games with the Penguins, with no points, during an earlier callup. He will meet the Penguins in Boston, where they play Saturday night.
Ebbett sustained a broken ankle Thursday while blocking a shot in the third period of the Penguins' 5-1 victory against San Jose, coach Dan Bylsma said. Ebbett, who had been playing on the third line, is out indefinitely.
Penguins center Evgeni Malkin, who missed Thursday's game because of an unspecified injury, remains day-to-day and will not travel to Boston.
Winger Pascal Dupuis, who left Thursday's game because of an unspecified injury, also is day-to-day but will travel to Boston. It's not known whether he might play.
Defenseman Brooks Orpik did not practice today. He was given a "maintenance day."
