The Penguins have reassigned wingers Chris Conner and Harry Zolnierczyk to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League.

Both players practiced with the Penguins today, but it appears likely that the team is making room for one or two injured players to return Friday for a game against the New York Islanders at Consol Energy Center. The most likely would seem to be defenseman Kris Letang, who has not played this season because of an apparent knee injury.

Letang has been practicing with the team and today was paired with Rob Scuderi -- those two were slated to play together before Letang's injury in training camp -- and manned one point on the top power-play unit.

Coach Dan Bylsma did not reveal when Letang might be scheduled to come back.

Zolnierczyk played in three games during his call-up, Conner, two.
