The Penguins will face the Boston Bruins in the Eastern Conference final of the Stanley Cup playoffs.

The Bruins advanced tonight when they beat the New York Rangers, 3-1. The Penguins were waiting to see which team they would face next after eliminating the Ottawa Senators with a 6-2 win Friday night.

The schedule for the best-of-seven Penguins-Bruins series was not immediately available, but the Penguins are assured of holding the first two games at Consol Energy Center. The Penguins were seeded No. 1 in the East, the Bruins No. 4.

The teams have met in the playoffs four times, with each winning two, but not since 1992 when the Penguins swept the Bruins in the conference final on their way to their second Stanley Cup championship in a row.
