Penguins center Evgeni Malkin, who has missed the past four games because of a concussion, will return to the lineup tonight against Tampa Bay at Consol Energy Center.
Coach Dan Bylsma said Malkin followed NHL protocol for concussions. He passed an ImPACT neurocognitive test on Sunday, when he returned to practice and engaged in contact.
At the team's morning skate today, Malkin practiced with regular linemates Matt Cooke and James Neal and took a point spot on the top power-play unit.
The Penguins were 2-2 without Malkin, the defending NHL scoring champion and MVP. He has 21 points in 18 games.
To make room for Malkin, who has been on injured reserve, the Penguins placed winger Zach Boychuk on waivers. Boychuk was claimed from Carolina off of waivers Jan. 31 as a possible linemate for Malkin, but had no points in seven games and has been a healthy scratch since mid-February.mobilehome - breaking - penguins
