RALEIGH, N.C. -- Center Evgeni Malkin, who was injured during the Penguins' 3-2 loss to Philadelphia at Consol Energy Center Friday night, is questionable for their game at Carolina this evening because of an apparent knee problem.

Malkin is expected to test his injury during the pregame skate before deciding if he can play against the Hurricanes.

His problem apparently is limited to a bad bruise; there is believed to be no ligament damage that could keep him out of the lineup for an extended period.

Malkin was hurt when his leg was pinned against the boards while he was being checked during the Flyers game.
