NEVILLE ISLAND, Pa. (AP) -- The Hanson Brothers are coming out of the penalty box for another movie.
Dave Hanson, a supporting player in the 1977 hockey movie "Slap Shot" and now general manager of the Island Sports Center in Neville Island near Pittsburgh, said he will travel to British Columbia on Monday for the filming of "Slap Shot 2."
Hanson said he will be joined by Jeff and Steve Carlson, who played his fictional brothers Jeff and Steve Hanson in the first movie.
In the first film, made in Johnstown, the hard-hitting, happy-go-lucky Hansons were part of a hard-luck hockey team led by Paul Newman. The team's fortunes improved when its players resorted to thuggery on the ice.
"Slap Shot" was recently named one of the 10 best sports movies ever by Sports Illustrated magazine.
The real-life Hanson and the Carlsons were teammates with the Johnstown Jets in the mid-1970s. Another Carlson brother, Jack, also played with the Johnstown team but left before filming.
Gary Busey and Steven Baldwin will star in the sequel, which is being filmed in Vancouver.
Dave Hanson is also coach of the AAA-league Pittsburgh Hornets team and will coach the Junior A League Pittsburgh Forge starting this fall.
