SOCHI, Russia -- Team USA's dream of a third Olympic ice hockey gold medal went quietly into the Russian night with a 1-0 loss to Canada in the semifinals Friday.
The Americans, who had scored 20 goals in their four victories, could not generate enough quality scoring chances on the power play or at even strength.
Canada, which got its only goal from Jamie Benn 1 minute, 41 seconds into the second period, will play Sweden on Sunday in the gold medal game. Team USA will play Finland on Saturday for a bronze medal.
