Bowling: Holodnak leads Penn-Trafford

Penn-Trafford's Danielle Holodnak turned in a 255/680 for the second-highest single game and series this season for the girls in the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Bowling League.
Hempfield's Jenn Ridilla tops the list with a 279/753.
Here's a look at the top performances around in the league in Week 8:
East Division: Woodland Hills' Branden Douglass (267/672), Greensburg Central Catholic's Mike Borland (256/669), Hempfield's Scott Zemba (237) and Penn-Trafford's Marcus Gojkovich (638) led the way for the boys. Hempfield is in first place at 7-1.
For the girls, first-place Hempfield built a three-game lead behind Tara Kane (225/608), Jan Dalicandro (221) and Ridilla (603).
South Division: West Mifflin's Jason Dawida (217) and Jason Pugh (212) and Baldwin's Josh Sopko (213) topped the boys. There were no 600s. Baldwin is first at 8-0.
For the girls, Oakland Catholic's Maureen Martin (199) and Devon Zitelli (195) were high single games, with no 500s. West Mifflin (8-0) is three games ahead.
North Division: Chartiers Valley's Bill Giehll (258/622) and Gary McMillen (621), North Hills' Bill Lapsley (244) and Carlynton's Dennis Lenkner (234) took honors for the boys. Chartiers Valley is in first place.
For the girls, Jill Smith stole the show with a 239/618 as North Hills maintained a one-game lead.
West Division: Canevin's Josh Lucas (279), Moon's Bill Cutrone (257/667), Mike Conway (657) and Ben Galloway (632) and Montour's Steve Kowatic (277) paced the boys. Moon (7-1) and Ambridge (7-1) are tied for first.
For the girls, Montour stayed in first place thanks to Jen Korn's 215 and Alyson Buhonic's 528.
Senior honor roll
Bob Glass, a former economics researcher at the University of Kansas and a regional pro, is the Senior Bowler of the Year for the third consecutive year by the Bowling Writers Association. Mark Roth, who led the PBA Senior Tour in earnings, was runner-up in the voting.
Glass, who led the tour in averages and top five finishes, won the season-ending Brunswick Senior World Open in a non-PBA event.
Shirley Hintz, who won the WIBC Senior Queens, earned five gold medals in the Senior division of the Tournament of the Americas and finished fourth in the National Golden Ladies Classic and the PWBA Regional Seniors Championship in Las Vegas, is WBAA Senior Woman Bowler of the Year.

Don Montleone (Butler) defeated Jim Henry (Prospect), 512-440, and Eddie Misencik (Rochester) defeated Kevin Hudecek (Mars), 452-449, in two-game matches to advance to the final round of the WBUT Bud Light Championship series.
There will be a scratch and handicap qualifier today at Sherwood Lanes, with squad times at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Entry fee is $40.
The old college try
Community College of Allegheny County Boyce Campus, led by Max Barnyk's 630 and Pat Hoke's 620, finished in first place in a collegiate match at Dual Lanes in Hagerstown, Md. Prince Georges Community College, Baltimore, was second and CCAC South third.
