The bowling community lost a dear friend when Frank Palangio, 79, longtime proprietor of Swissvale Bowl-A-Rama and supporter of youth bowling, died Dec. 18 after a long battle with Parkinson's. The junior program at the Bowl-A-Rama produced five state championship teams over the years, the most recent the Class A girls in 2002. Many of the top adult bowlers in the area came through the junior program, including John Lagnese, John Frisoli Jr., Dave Kristofik and Tony Guarino.
