In clear shallows at Raccoon Lake, Beaver County, two largemouths recently attacked jigs fished off the bottom.

The biggest was 19 1/2 inches, 5 pounds. Benjamin Saks of Garfield released both fish immediately.

Pennsylvania's open season for largemouth, smallmouth and spotted bass starts Saturday with a 12-inch minimum and daily combined species limit of six. The season runs through Oct. 31 on lakes, Sept. 30 on rivers and streams. Check the 2013 Pennsylvania Fishing Summary or www.fishandboat.com for special regulations on waters managed under the Big Bass and Catch and Release Bass programs.
