Lake Erie tributaries (Erie County):

The steelhead were on the move following two days of rain and increased flow, and lots of chromers were caught particularly on lower Elk and Walnut creeks, and at the mouth of Trout Run. Continued rains and a drop in temperature were predicted for this weekend ??? that and holiday vacations were expected to result in high angler pressure. The state Fish and Boat Commission recommends avoiding crowds by targeting steelheads and brown trout at North East Marina. Poaching and other illegal activities have been observed throughout the region. If you witness a violation call the PFBC northwest region office at 814-337-0444 or Walnut Creek Access Area at 814-833-2464. Pymatuning Reservoir (Crawford County): Chronically low in the summer and fall, the lake has swelled with recent rains and is back to normal pool level. Some nice walleyes were caught. Conneaut Lake (Crawford County): The dredging project at the access area was completed, and the launch is open for use. Shenango Reservoir and river (Mercer County): Shoreline anglers were catching fish at the dam, and trout and walleyes were active in the river. Piney Dam (Clarion County): Anglers trolling Rapala crankbaits and Hot-n-Tots, and dead drifting crawlers or minnows, caught walleyes and yellow perch. Kahle Lake (Clarion County): Despite the ongoing drawdown, Fish and Boat reports catches of large panfish. Harbor Acres Lake (Butler County): In a 2013 regulation change, the lake will be removed from the Early Season Trout-Stocked Waters program. It???s designation will change to Approved Trout Waters Open to Year-Round Fishing. Ohio River (Allegheny County): Dec. 15 an Emsworth man landed five nice saugers in an hour near the dam on the Emsworth side of the river. The fish went for a slowly retrieved perch-finish grub with a green head. Youghiogheny River (Allegheny-Westmoreland counties): Scattered reports were received of smallmouth and walleye catches from McKeesport to Coulter.
