East Xtra: 3 Franklin Regional wrestlers are All-Americans

Three Franklin Regional wrestlers earned All-American status at the USA Wrestling Junior National Freestyle Championships, which took place July 19-26 at the Fargodome on the campus of North Dakota State University.

Two were entered in the same weight class, as Josh Maruca placed third at 145, while teammate Michael Kemerer finished fifth. Maruca won eight of nine bouts, with his only loss to New Jersey's Jordan Kutler, the eventual seventh-place finisher. Kemerer posted a 7-2 record.

Also earning All-American status from Franklin Regional was Josh Shields, who placed third at 152. Shields had a 6-1 record with his only loss coming to New Jersey's Mason Manville, the eventual champion.

Central Catholic's Vincenzo Joseph and Valley's Terrell Fields also earned All-American status. Joseph placed second at 145 in the Junior National Freestyle Championships, while Fields finished third at 195 in the Junior National Greco-Roman Championships.

Joseph recorded six victories before dropping a 9-3 decision in the title match to Isaiah White of Illinois. Fields posted a 6-1 record with his only loss coming to Oklahoma's Joel Dixon, the runner-up.
