After making the WPIAL Class AAA girls singles tennis tournament in her first three seasons, Kylie Isaacs will get a chance to play with the best boys.
Isaacs, a senior at North Allegheny High School, qualified for the WPIAL Class AAA boys singles tournament next week with a default win against her brother, sophomore Jared Isaacs, in the Section 3 consolation final Tuesday at North Allegheny.
North Allegheny coach Dom Gliozzi said Jared injured an ankle March 20 against Pine-Richland and aggravated the injury during the first day of the section tournament Monday. He was unable to compete Tuesday. His status for the match today against the Rams is unknown.
Kylie, who did not play girls tennis this season so she could concentrate on playing USTA tournaments and improving her strength and flexibility, was a WPIAL Class AAA girls singles quarterfinalist in 2010 and 2012 and lost in the first round of the WPIAL tournament as a sophomore.
