City League Playoffs: University Prep earns title shot

University Prep quarterback Ron Brown completed 18 of 33 passes for 198 yards, including a 32-yard touchdown pass to Marcus Johnson as the Wildcats earned a berth in the City League championship with an 8-0 victory against Perry Friday night at Cupples Stadium.

University Prep will meet Allderdice for the City League championship at 1 p.m. Nov. 2 at Cupples Stadium.

The victory improved University Prep's record to 8-0. Perry fell to 3-6.

University Prep broke open a scoreless game in the third quarter, when Brown, who has thrown for 2,798 yards this season, connected with Johnson. The touchdown catch was one of four receptions for Johnson, who has scored 142 points this season. Brown's two-point conversion pass failed. University Prep picked up two points in the fourth quarter when Perry's quarterback was sacked in the end zone for a safety.


Berlin 34, Westinghouse 6

The Bulldogs (1-8) scored the first touchdown on an 87-yard touchdown pass from Elijah Bay to Kameron Watson, but that was their only highlight against the host Mountaineers (8-1).
