Brentwood entered Friday night's game in second place in the Black Hills Conference and with the second-best defense.

Top-ranked Clairton (7-0, 5-0) showed just how far the gap between first and second is with another dominating performance in a 52-0 win over Brentwood (5-2, 3-2).

Six players scored for the Bears, including Devante Dockery, who returned an interception 27 yards for a touchdown. It was the third consecutive game Clairton scored on an interception return.

It was the fifth shutout of the season for Clairton, which has allowed a total of 12 points.

Char-Houston 14, Carlynton 13

Danial Lis found D.J. Denny for a 17-yard touchdown pass with just a little more than two minutes to play, and Travis McCarty converted the extra-point kick to help Chartiers-Houston (6-1, 4-1) thwart an upset bid at Carlynton (1-6, 1-6) in the Black Hills Conference.

Avonworth 28, Beth-Center 20

In a non-conference showdown, No. 4-ranked Avonworth (6-1, 5-1) held off visiting Beth-Center (5-2, 5-1). Brian Vales threw three touchdown passes, including two to Jake Szolis for the Antelopes who led 28-7 in the fourth quarter before a late Beth-Center rally.

Monessen 55, West Greene 7

Monessen won its 17th consecutive Tri-County South Conference game with a dominating performance against visiting West Greene (1-6, 1-6). Trae Cook rushed for three first-half touchdowns for the Greyhounds (6-1, 6-0), who led 42-0 at halftime. Monessen also returned a punt, a kickoff and a fumble for scores.

Fort Cherry 48, Bentworth 6

Tanner Garry threw two touchdown passes to Nate Bellhy and two to Ryan Babirad for Fort Cherry (4-3, 4-1), who ripped Bentworth (0-7, 0-5) in a Black Hills Conference game.

North Catholic 44, OLSH 6

North Catholic rebounded from a shutout loss in a big way with a 44-point effort in a blowout win over Our Lady of Sacred Heart (0-7, 0-7) in an Eastern Conference game at J.C. Stone Field. Martin Long tossed three touchdowns to three different receivers for North Catholic (5-2, 4-2), who also scored on an interception and punt return.

Geibel 48, Mapletown 22

Christian Henckel, the leading rusher in Class A, piled up 284 yards rushing and four touchdowns as he topped 1,000 yards rushing on the season and helped the Gators (3-4, 3-3) dispatch host Mapletown (0-7, 0-7) in a Tri-County South game.

California 31, Jeff-Morgan 6

California went a long way in securing its playoff fate with a convincing win over the visiting Rockets (3-4, 2-4) in a key Tri-County South game. Quarterback T.D. Conway hooked up with Dakota Conway for three second-quarter touchdown passes to spark the Trojans (4-3, 4-2).

Serra 28, Avella 26

In a Black Hills Conference battle of the Eagles, the Serra Eagles (3-4, 3-2) escaped with a win over the Avella Eagles (0-7, 0-5). Serra led 28-6 at halftime but watched as Avella mounted a second-half rally, scoring 20 unanswered points.

Carmichaels 15, Frazier 14 (OT)

Carmichaels scored an upset win in overtime at Frazier in a Tri-County South game. Frazier (5-2, 4-2) struck first in overtime when Josh Guiser rushed for a 5-yard score and Kyle Rodriguez made the extra point.

The Mighty Mikes countered with Ryan Mundell's second rushing touchdown of the game. Carmichaels (4-3, 3-3) opted to go for two and Jonathan Krall converted on a two-yard run.

Neshannock 36, S.S. Beaver 6

Neshannock (4-3, 2-3) kept South Side Beaver (0-7, 0-7) winless with a 32-point win in a Big Seven Conference game.
