Q: Moon senior Jarrod Simmons is one of the most highly recruited players in Western Pa., but many have not seen him play because this is his first season playing high school ball in the area. What stands out most about his game?
A: He’s a very unselfish player. He hit three or four 3s against us. After the first one, I was like whatever, and then he hits a couple more. And it wasn’t like he was like 3 of 7. He was 3 for 3. We had to adjust. He changed the game. He’s huge inside. He alters shots. He doesn’t just block shots. That’s such a weapon to have. He’s a Division I player. He’s 6-8 and he’s going to keep getting stronger. He has a lot of raw ability. He’s the best player we’ve played so far.

Amanda Kalin, Pine-Richland: Kalin scored 34 points, including six 3-pointers, to help the Rams defeat Norwin, 77-59, in the North Allegheny tournament.
