While his younger brothers are leading one of the top high school basketball teams in Western Pennsylvania, Bill Luther is having a nice senior season with the Pitt-Johnstown men's basketball team.
Luther, a 6-foot-7 forward and graduate of Hampton High School, is 38th in NCAA Division II in 3-pointers with 48, and is shooting 40 percent (48 of 120) from 3-point range. He is averaging 13.2 points and 3.9 rebounds a game for Pitt-Johnstown (10-8).
Luther is third on Pitt-Johnstown's career 3-pointer list with 233 and 19th in scoring with 1,096 points. His brothers, twins Collin and Ryan, are seniors on Hampton's team.
•Virginia Tech point guard Devin Wilson, a Montour graduate, is fourth in the ACC in assists at 4.6 a game, but he has stepped up his scoring recently. A freshman, Wilson is averaging 9.5 points per game for the season, but averaged 18 points in a recent four-game stretch.
•Duquesne University football linebacker Aaron Reed, also a graduate of Montour, was named to the College Sports Journal All-Freshman Team for NCAA Division I-AA. Reed was a second-team selection. He tied for Duquesne's team lead in tackles with 74.
