On the verge of losing its first game of the season, Shaler's girls basketball team turned in a dominant fourth-quarter performance.
Shaler (10-0, 4-0) overcame a double-digit deficit in the final quarter to beat visiting Oakland Catholic (1-8, 0-5), 53-47, in Class AAAA, Section 3.
The Eagles led, 27-14, at halftime, but the Titans closed the gap to 10 entering the fourth quarter before outscoring Oakland Catholic, 27-11, over the final eight minutes.
Abbey Conrad had 18 points and Andi Lydon added 13 for Shaler.
Kelly Vigliotti led the Eagles with 17 points.

n Madison Kollar scored 32 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Latrobe (5-4, 2-2) to a 70-63 victory against host Laurel Highlands (2-8, 1-3) in Class AAAA, Section 1.
n Chassidy Omogrosso had 31 points and Courtney Bannoy had 25 points and 14 rebounds to lead Class AAA No. 1 Blackhawk (10-0, 3-0) to an 89-26 victory against host West Allegheny (3-6, 1-3) in Section 2.
n Conor Richardson scored 22 of her game-high 33 points in the first half to lift Carlynton (8-2, 4-0) to a 72-34 victory against host Northgate (3-6, 0-3) in Class AA, Section 6.

Delmonico commits to Navy
n West Allegheny standout Tory Delmonico committed to play football at Navy in Annapolis, Md., on Thursday. Delmonico was named the Parkway Conference player of the year on offense and defense this season, one in which he helped lead the Indians to their second consecutive WPIAL Class AAA championship by beating Central Valley. He was a Post-Gazette Fab 22 selection.
