Few women's basketball players in the country at the NCAA Division II level score and rebound as well as Seton Hill's Katie Gattuso.
Gattuso, a 6-foot senior forward and graduate of Seton-LaSalle High School, is tied for second in the country in "double doubles" with nine. Gattuso is averaging 16.5 points and 11.1 rebounds a game for Seton Hill, which has a 6-5 record. She was named the PSAC West player of the week earlier this month.
Seton Hill has 13 players from the WPIAL. The other starters are Hopewell's Paige Alviani (15.5 ppg), Indiana's Tiara Stossel (10.9), Montour's Meghan Mastroianni (9.1) and Uniontown's Mallory Sanner (5.9 ppg).
* Mt. Lebanon graduate Madison Cable recently scored a career-high 21 points for the Notre Dame women's basketball team against UCLA. Cable, a junior guard, is averaging 6.3 points and 2.6 rebounds a game for the No. 2-ranked Fighting Irish, who are 10-0.
* Bill Luther scored his 1,000th career point for Pitt-Johnstown in a 91-74 victory against Mansfield University last Saturday. Luther, a 6-foot-7 senior forward from Hampton, now has 1,010 points and is third on the school's all-time list for 3-pointers with 216.
